Overview

Time-blocking and daily schedule management inside Obsidian. Write a time-blocked plan in your daily note and see it rendered as a visual timeline in the sidebar. It is useful for time-blocking a day from tasks or schedule entries stored in notes. The practical value is a repeatable workflow that remains visible in ordinary Markdown or Obsidian's own interface, rather than an isolated feature added without a plan.

How to Install Day Planner

  1. 1Open Obsidian Settings, select Community plugins, and confirm Restricted mode is disabled.
  2. 2Search the community catalog for Day Planner, install it, and enable it.
  3. 3Open the plugin settings and review its defaults before using it on existing notes.
  4. 4Test the workflow in a copied note or disposable vault, then inspect the resulting files.

How to Use Day Planner

Create a short test plan with explicit times, open the timeline view, and adjust formatting until the blocks match the day before adopting it in a daily-note template.

When Day Planner Helps

It is useful for time-blocking a day from tasks or schedule entries stored in notes.

A Safe First Workflow

Create a short test plan with explicit times, open the timeline view, and adjust formatting until the blocks match the day before adopting it in a daily-note template.

Limits and Checks

  • A planned timeline does not automatically reflect external calendar changes, and overly detailed schedules become expensive to maintain.
  • Keep a recoverable vault backup before enabling automation or bulk changes.
