Ownership and editorial bylines
Obsidian Mate is not presented as a staffed newsroom. Articles use a small set of stable, topic-based topic-based bylines: Laktab Nour for knowledge workflows, Lina Atlas for design, Youssef Nadir for plugins and integrations, and Salma Kettani for AI coverage and comparisons. These names organize editorial responsibility; they are not claims that the site employs four public experts with separate credentials.
We do not attach invented portraits, social profiles, employers, qualifications, locations, or experience histories to these bylines. Browse the active author profiles and their articles.
How resources are selected
Plugins, themes, vaults, templates, and AI skills are considered when they have an identifiable creator or repository, a useful purpose for Obsidian users, and enough primary material to explain setup and limitations accurately.
- A directory entry may exist for discovery, but it receives an indexable standalone guide only after it has substantive setup, workflow, caveat, source, and attribution information appropriate to that resource type.
- Selection is not a certification of security, compatibility, maintenance, or suitability for every vault.
- Paid placement does not replace the editorial quality gate. Advertising or referral relationships must be disclosed where relevant.
Sources and verification
Technical facts are checked against primary sources when available: official documentation, the creator's repository, release notes, manifests, and project websites. A page may also link to community discussion for context, but creator claims remain creator claims until independently demonstrated.
Before publishing material changes, the site checks page rendering, image paths, internal links, metadata, structured data, and the production build. Version-sensitive commands and product behavior are rechecked when an article is substantively updated. A visible update date means the content changed; it is not refreshed merely to appear recent.
What our labels mean
- Tested
- Used only when a reproducible record identifies the relevant setup, action, and observation. A screenshot alone does not prove that every documented feature was tested.
- Reviewed
- Means the page or resource information was checked against stated editorial and source requirements. It does not automatically mean the software was installed or used over time.
- Editorial assessment
- A reasoned Obsidian Mate judgment based on documented capabilities, trade-offs, maintenance signals, and the intended workflow. It is not a creator statement or laboratory benchmark.
- Best for / not ideal for
- A contextual recommendation for a stated need. It is not a universal ranking and should be read with the page's limitations and alternatives.
Screenshots and visual evidence
Visuals may come from an original project repository, official documentation, a local capture, or an editorial illustration. Captions identify the source when it is recorded. Repository and official images demonstrate the creator's interface or claim; they are not represented as proof of an Obsidian Mate hands-on test.
We do not present generated interface images as authentic product screenshots. If an older image lacks a recorded provenance label, readers should treat it as illustrative rather than as test evidence and may request clarification.
Creator attribution and independence
The name shown as a resource creator belongs to the original plugin, theme, vault, template, or AI-skill creator—not to an Obsidian Mate article author. Creator names, repositories, licenses, and canonical project links are retained when available. Editorial explanations are kept separate from creator attribution.
Obsidian Mate is an independent publication and directory. It is not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Obsidian or the third-party projects it covers.
Outdated, abandoned, and corrected resources
When a resource becomes outdated, duplicated, too thin to support a useful page, or no longer has a reliable source, its detail page may be marked noindex, consolidated into a broader guide, redirected, or retired. Historical or abandoned resources may remain available when their status and risks are clear.
Corrections prioritize the underlying claim and source, not cosmetic date changes. To report an error, include the page URL, disputed text, and a primary source through the contact page.
Advertising and referral links
The site may display advertising and may use referral links. A referral relationship is disclosed in the affected article, and the site-wide position is explained in the disclaimer and affiliate notice. These relationships do not transfer ownership of third-party resources or turn an editorial assessment into an independent test.
