Ideaverse is Nick Milo's Linking Your Thinking (LYT) starter vault — one of the most widely respected frameworks in the Obsidian community. Rather than forcing your notes into a rigid folder tree, Ideaverse organizes your thoughts through Maps of Content (MOCs), home note hubs, and flexible linking pathways. It gives you a living workspace that grows naturally alongside your thinking.

How This Vault Works

The practical workflow for using this vault in your day-to-day note-taking:

  1. 1Launch Obsidian and open the Ideaverse folder as a new vault.
  2. 2Start at the + Home note to view your high-level MOCs and daily note launcher.
  3. 3Capture new ideas in your daily note or in the Inbox folder using provided note templates.
  4. 4When a topic accumulates 5+ related notes, create a new Map of Content (MOC) note in Atlas/ to group them.
  5. 5Link new notes to their parent MOCs to build a resilient, interconnected knowledge network.

How to Install Ideaverse for Obsidian

  1. 1Download the Ideaverse ZIP archive or clone the GitHub repository.
  2. 2Open Obsidian, click 'Open folder as vault', and choose the unzipped folder.
  3. 3When prompted by Obsidian, enable Community Plugins to activate Dataview and Templater.
  4. 4Open the Home note and read the built-in onboarding notes to explore the setup.

Things to Know Before Using It

  • Uses open-ended note linking rather than strict top-down folders.
