Overview

Customize the look of your theme and CSS snippets through a graphical settings panel. Many community themes expose hundreds of options through this plugin. It is useful when a theme or CSS snippet exposes supported visual variables but you do not want to edit CSS by hand. The practical value is a repeatable workflow that remains visible in ordinary Markdown or Obsidian's own interface, rather than an isolated feature added without a plan.

How to Install Style Settings

  1. 1Open Obsidian Settings, select Community plugins, and confirm Restricted mode is disabled.
  2. 2Search the community catalog for Style Settings, install it, and enable it.
  3. 3Open the plugin settings and review its defaults before using it on existing notes.
  4. 4Test the workflow in a copied note or disposable vault, then inspect the resulting files.

How to Use Style Settings

Install a compatible theme or snippet, open Style Settings, change one documented group, and verify both reading and editing views in light and dark mode before continuing.

When Style Settings Helps

It is useful when a theme or CSS snippet exposes supported visual variables but you do not want to edit CSS by hand.

A Safe First Workflow

Install a compatible theme or snippet, open Style Settings, change one documented group, and verify both reading and editing views in light and dark mode before continuing.

Limits and Checks

  • The plugin only exposes settings declared by the active theme or snippet. It cannot add controls to CSS that provides no Style Settings definitions.
  • Keep a recoverable vault backup before enabling automation or bulk changes.
